AutoCAD2000+ was a big leap foreward for autodesk in the 3D modeling
stakes. I'm surprised they have not pushed this aspect more in their
advertising.
We at Blueprint Applications have developed a small add on for AutoCAD2000+ and dont intend to make it backward compatable to R14.
The modeling capabilities of previous Autocads is very limited.
If you are serious about working in 3D and are used to the AutoCAD enviroment get Acad2000 it is ver good.
We have also written a PowerPoint tutorial for drawing in 3D, you can download it at http://steelstubs.bizland.com
If you ignore the advertising hype you should be able to get some helpful hints for working with AutoCAD2000+ 3D modeling environment.
As I have only used AutoCAD and some Microstation I cant comment on what I am sure are some very good 3D platforms.
