I recently was forced to make the exact same decision that you are questioning.
I knew I was going to get a high-end PC and was wondering what program to get. I have taught myself Truespace 2 and would have liked to build on my knowledge of that program, rather than start over with 3DS Max. But after a few phone calls, and enough people saying that they didn't use Truespace because it wasn't an industry standard. I decided on 3DS Max instead....HOLY SHIT....I am glad I did.

The amount of possibilities is mind-blowing. I was in awe.

I have been going through the tutorials book that was supplied with the program for about 3 months now and I still firmly stand by my decision.

If your concerned about the price, Try this...If you know someone who is in collage (at least 6 credits) Have them make the purchase - it will bring down the price to about 1500.00. Once you have it learned, then worry about getting the commerical version - that you have buy in your name - if you want to make money with it.

Let me know what you think

By the way, how is Truespace 5?
