Making basic floor plans and plot maps with house placement.

The 3D idea is great but I would like to figure out how to do basic floor plans, and is there a feature that will automatically enter the amount of feet of the house from property lines as well as automatic sizes of rooms etc?
Maybe I need a different type of program?
I am completely new to all of this, so if you have advice please let me know.
