why the Insert key is not working in Maya 3.0 (trial -30 days)

I've started to learn Maya, I installed the "taste of Maya"
and the Insert key is not working for me, to move a pivot point.
the duplicate command is not working as well.
do you know if it's because it's a trial version of 30 dyas?
