Chris,
I did notice your topic and wanted to give you a little insight on PTC and a near possible solution for your needed translation from Pro/E. First off, since various CAD programs have their own modeling kernels, the INTEROPERABILITY issue is brought to light. I work at Spatial Corp and focus on 3D Geometric Modeling, Interoperability, and Visualization and is owned by Dassault Systemes. www.spatial.com
What I can tell you is that PTC is getting pressure from their customers to allow interoperability from PTC's format to other industry standards, for example our .SAT format.
I can't answer your question, but I do know that by contacting PTC and letting them be aware of your constraints, they will be forced to make some decisions to keep their existing customers happy.

Please Read this article, which was released yesterday for an update on the situation.

JS: Assume is too strong a word. When I was at UGS we never applied to be part of the PTC CSP program, so there was no opportunity to be denied. Whether Dassault has applied and been denied I have no idea.
MD: If they were to apply today?JS: If they were to apply today we would let them in, if they would let us into their program.

For thought.
