3DMax driver compatibility problem (OpenGL)

Can anyone help me?
I have 3d Studio Max R3 version 3 on my Laptop (Toshiba Satellite 2800-500).
The problem is when the driver to OpenGl it crashes my system and this is the only way I can view texturised objects in viewports. When I set the driver to Direct3D I can't view anything texturised in perspective viewport.
