It would be sure exciting to be able, a day, to work in a study where is created architecture in an atmosphere of enthusiasm and great collaboration .........the architect profession, my opinion, demands passion, responsibility, sensibility , modesty and something more.......passion , because our job demands , probably , more than others , much passion...........responsibility, above all , because an architecture modifies, often deeply, the landscape........sensibility, because every architecture is created to communicate and to connect itself with the landscape and the surrounding nature and to express, in a delicate equilibrium, at the same time , the personality of its planner and its customer , expecially if is necessary to planning an house............modesty , because an architect must be always ready to learn new things and must also be a part of a work team..........and , more , curiosity , if possible , to expand always his interests !
I been born in 1972 in Naples , i live from the birth in Castellammare di Stabia (Naples, Italy) , City of the Sorrento’s coast , not far from Naples (30 Km) , Pompei , Sorrento , Positano and Amalfi !...........not far , therefore, from places famous all over the world for their rare beauty and just my city was until the end of 18 century one of the destinations of vacation for the noble reignings of Naples.........i attended between 1985 and 1990 the secondary school with an emphasis on humanities named " Plinio Seniore " in my city, studying also history of the Art, language and literature Latin and Greek , language and literature French..........with final votation 60/60 , therefore the maximum..........almost a model of student , almost !
I have learned for passion English travelling in Europe, into the school I have studied in fact French.........4 times in Great Britain, 1 time in France, 1 time in Holland, 1 time in Spain, 1 time in Malta and 2 times in Greece...........listening everytime a lot of English music, I adore listening music , one of the advantages of our profession is to be able to listen a lot of music working...........then , reading reviews or following programs in English to the TV............trying every occasion useful to communicate in English to the foreign people in and out of Italy.........then , i never studied english at the scholl , but my english knowledge is probably fairly good........but above all , my desire to communicate to the people of other countries and of other cultures it helps me to continuously improve.....
Then, from 1990 to the 2001 i studied at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Naples ' Federico II ', line of the studies: architectonic planning......
Why to choose to be an Architect ?..........o improve , modifying , the landscape...........to create spaces where people can spend better a part of their life..........to feel the creation joy !............maybe , an Architect is a little poet , is a little inventor.......maybe , a little artist , a little thecnician..........hard to explain , right !
The course of academic studies has officially a duration of 5 years and , in fact , according to the official gazette of the University of Naples, the students employ in average 8 years to achieve the degree in Architecture........unfortunally, the Faculties of Architecture in Italy, not private but public, they are between the most complex and badly organized.........however, finally , after 10 years of " sacrifices " and of " survival course " , in March 2001 I have achieved the degree with 110/110 voting taken summa cum laude , presenting myself on an average marks of 30 examinations , passed in the course of degree , of 29.3/30 ( voting range from 18/30 to 30/30 and praise ), introducing a CAD thesis in architectonic planning and urban design that had for object the requalification and the improvement of a degraded area on the coast of Castellammare di Stabia , the title of the thesis: " Multipurpose complex for common interest equipments and for the sea sports practice , with annexed wharf and equipped area ".
I have discovered ArchiCad to the end of my course of degree , after to have made the greater part of the design examinations.............the first examination passed using ArchiCad it has been " Tipological and Morphological Characters of the Architecture ", for which I have made a tipological and morphological analysis of the Cloister of S. Giacomo in the Complex of ' St.Maria la Nova ' in Naples...........i used the CAD software to realize a three-dimensional model, after a highly summary relief , of the Cloister which me could be useful for the understanding of this particular architecture.........not a examination of traditional design or architectonic planning , but an exercise of tipological and morphological analysis of a tradictional architecture of Naples architeconic landscape......because by law in our University , we have to give all the documentation of the examinations for successive eventual bureaucratic controls, of that examination it`s not remained to me nearly nothing.......it was my first examination with ArchiCad in the june of the ` 99 , 30/30 and praise the voting , really beautiful satisfaction !
Why ArchiCad and not , for example , AutoCad ?............then , because , between a previous examination and next , I didn`t have much time to dedicate to the learning of a complicated and slow in the results CAD softwares like AutoCad !...............AutoCad is CAD software for excellence, it`s used to design a gear of a mechanical engine or an entire building...........i was in need of a fast in the results CAD software , more specific for the architecture, even if more limited in the powers............... ArchiCad went for my requirements of the moment............and , then , time after time its limitations are reduced and will be reduced more and more , thank you Graphisoft !..........You can see also the new CAD software created by Abvent for the solid modelling named ' Zoom ' or ' Zoom GDL ' , to expand the native limitations of ArchiCad in the creation of solid complexes , creating new library GDL objects to use in your projects !
At the same time , I prepared the examination of " Urban planning II ", for which I have made a hypothesis of urban redesign in a degraded area of the suburbs of Naples.........a work of modelling of simple solids , nearly like working with a virtual city plastic model , and of graphical paging with Photoshop and CorelDraw softwares , characteristic work of an urban redesign examination of a city part and of architectonic planning of a single building.........the boys who used AutoCad they followed my results with admiration and wonder.........they had to work really more than me to have the same results...........thanks to ArchiCad and to my sincere enthusiasm..........the votation of the second examination using ArchiCad ?...........still 30/30 and praise !.........still many satisfactions !..........also of that work are remained a lot of little , for the reasons already i said !
Easy to be in love of a CAD software that you give all these satisfactions , helping you to fastly and to the best express your project ideas !
My opinion, the CAD isn`t an aim but a means to express without limits the architectonic own personality !
After these first 2 passed examinations also using ArchiCad, I was still a beginner.........in reality , few months of practice using the CAD software............they were not examinations of architectonic planning, but various examinations for which ArchiCad has been , however , of greatest help............maybe i used in total the software during 2 months, the rest of the time has been necessary for the phases of analysis of the problems and of the solutions for those examinations !
The real practice with the software has arrived at the moment of the thesis of degree in architectonic planning and urban redesigns with the university teacher Arch. A . Rossetti..........finally ArchiCad it would have helped me in the virtual control of the plan in all its phases of processing..........the utility of the CAD ? to be helpful to control the spaces during their same creation ! The amusing thing, nearly a challenge, it was that my supervisor does know to use the PC not even to write..........he is lost in love of the by hand free design...........but he has been able to the use by me of the CAD, he has had confidence.........and to the end , he has been enthusiast to propose me to use the digital floodlight for the presentation ! Only then the real full-time practice using ArchiCad , less than 6 months of enthusiastic and passionate work , many sacrifices, also until to 12 and more hours a day designing ! , from september 2000 to March 2001............but , as american say , no pain no gain , right ! Of the work of the degree thesis, at this time it`s me remained fortunately all , files and drawings !..............i had used the CAD in all the phases of the planning............i had learned many commands of ArchiCad, i has made much experience, but how many potentialities are still to explore and it`s only the beginning !...........i`m ready to deepen also the use of Art Lantis Render software for the fotorendering and to have then the occasion to learn to use Zoom, the solid modeller of the Graphisoft.........
Without never to forget , my opinion , that the CAD isn`t an aim but a means for the planning !
I can record all thesis work in a Cd-rom and i can send it to You , if you need it...........files PLN , DWG, fotorendering JPG and Panoramas VR of Quick Time 4, and eventually those few files that it`s me remained of the 2 previous examinations for which I have used ArchiCad..........the drawings of the other examinations are conserved in the archives of the Facolty of Architecture !
Why , then , to decide to go away from Italy............if there are many people who , from all the world , come to visit our famous places !
Why Italy is really a much strange country , it would be necessary to live here to understand it ! And , then , for a young architect just graduated there are not many opportunities to work in a really stimulating and respectful office !
A day , i would like to work as project architect in the field of the architectonic planning , but , above all my dream , in the field of the residential customer design and interior design, also why I love very much the furnishing , especially modern...............i would like , possibly, to make practice in a office that works in this field........to improve to use , always more better , the CAD for the planning to express without limits my space ideas..............a day, even, to become an associate architect in a fine office..............or to find any architects tuning with my personality to open a fine planning office !
Maybe , I am dreamming........but i`m still young and now it`s the right time to dream !
What more ?
I like very much the nature , the sea landscape and also the mountain landscape..........and i like very much to swimm , as latin people said " mens sana in corpore sano " , healthy mind in healthy body !............i like the technologies , the furniture , the music , the cinema , to travel , the information technologies , the hardwares and softwares.......................and to stay with interesting people !
I will be able to relocate to another country , if there will be right work opportunities ! , about after the 15 october 2001 , after the oral part of italian architect licence examination !
