I have had this problem before. The number one thing is, does this happen with just the one file your are presently working on or all the files?
Maybe that file is corrupt (meaning that, if you used autocad and have some embeded xrefs that will cause the file not to open or in time become corrupt. Other piece of advice reinstall it. It sucks but its better than wasting the time trying to understand the code of the computer software and what is happeing, especially if you are under that deadline. Good luck
