[NA-Leads] New direction for NEI

Neighborhood Leaders and NLC reps,

In a change of direction, the NLC has selected two topics from the list of
the unfinished work from the former NEI committee to work on this year. 
To accomplish the work, two ad hoc committees were created at last
Tuesday's NLC meeting.  This is in lieu of continuing the NEI Committee.

The two committees are tasked as follows:
1.  Advance neighborhood public safety and emergency response planning.
2.  Develop potential models for a neighborhood liaison program.

The first committee will be convened by Randy Prince and Carlos Barrera. 
The second committee will be convened by Steve Lamb and Jan Wostmann.

Each of these committees will need additional members before they can
start their work.  Each committee was asked to explore their topic and
prepare a recommendation, which would be brought back to the NLC for
further discussion.  Since there was near unanimous support for this
approach, we assumed that each neighborhood would elect to participate on
one or both committees.  Please contact the committee conveners to
indicate your neighborhood's participation.
