Greetings Neighborhood Leaders.

This is a homework assignment, and it's due Wednesday, August 27th at 6 pm.
That's a week. For some of you (probably most of you) this is short notice,
and I apologize. Please consider this a Take Home Pop Quiz. I did give you
a little warning with my previous email, so hopefully you've started
thinking about this.

We are redoing the Neighborhood Association business cards for the Eugene
Celebration. They will be works in progress for the Eugene Celebration, but
this process will be fundamental in shaping the booth and essentially
guiding us to this place called New (if anyone can find New on the map, you
get a prize!).

*About the cards:*
They will be 4.25 in square.
Front of the card will have the neighborhood image.
Back of the card will have:
1) Your NA's highlight from this year,
2) Three current projects in your NA,
3) One contact w/relevant info,
and maybe
4) When and where your NA meets.

Homework Assignment:
Send me and email with your NA's name and:

1) Your neighborhood image.
2) Your NA's highlight for this year.
3) Your list of three current NA projects.
4) Who you would like to have contacted for more information.
5) When and where your NA meets if it's on a regular schedule.

Please discuss this with your board, if possible.

1) For many NAs, a neighborhood graphic already exists. These NAs are:
Bethel, Cal Young, Churchill, DNA, Laurel Hill Valley, RRCO, Santa Clara,
SUNA, & WUN. These existing graphics are fine. If you would like to use
them, then your item #1 above is already done, but please still include it
when you turn in your assignment.

2) This should be easy also if you took the Pop Quiz at the last NLC
meeting. And it should still be easy even if you didn't take the Pop Quiz.

3) What are you working on? A priority list of your top 3 activities,
projects, or outcomes. These are also going to shape the "toppings" table,
so it's VERY important. You never know, your neighborhood might win the
'cherry'! If it helps to think of what you're doing in your NA as 'green
sprinkles,' 'chocolate sauce,' & 'nuts,' be my guest. We're developing a
new language here so whatever makes you salivate....

4) One person: name, email, phone.

5) Address, name of place if it has one (i.e. Toaster Church), time of day,
time of month (i.e. first Monday). If this doesn't apply to your NA, please
say so when you turn in your homework.

*Evaluation:*
This is a mandatory assignment.
You may be asked to clarify or specify if you respond vaguely. Please save
us all some time and be as concrete as possible (it will make the booth that
much better even if it is a Dreamy theme).
If you fail to turn in your homework, I will make something up for you.
This may mean that your neighborhood gets depicted as a dunce for the
Celebration or a monkey with candy corn stuck up its nose...now how
compelling is that?! Well, I wouldn't do that, but when I'm pressed for
time you get stick figures or similarly basic representational line
drawings. Oh, and how well do I know your NA anyway? Hmmm. I strongly
encourage you to do this homework assignment. It doesn't have to be
perfect, and I don't want it to be perfect. If it helps, we're shooting for
platypus....come on, it lays eggs and lactates, it's head is just ducky, and
it's back end is bucky.
If all you can get is #2-5, please turn that in.

We will also have the NLC meeting the day before the assignment is due, so
you can turn it in then if you like. You can also DO the assignment then if
you like. We will not have agenda time set aside for this assignment,
however, so be prepared.

If you have any questions, please ask (my phone # is on the NLC contact
list).
Thanks so much!
Heidi
