Neighborhood Leaders and NLC Reps,

Two items for your consideration:

1. At last month's meeting Bob Kline, chair of the NLC EWEB Committee,
asked if the NLC would extent the charge of the committee. We weren't
able to take action on his request due to time pressure, so we will
consider it at this coming meeting. Here is the text of the motion Bob
would like the NLC to consider:

The NLC EWEB Committee requests approval of NLC to continue meeting with
EWEB to improve their policies and procedures when working with the
public. The Committee will provide an update on their meetings and provide
documents generated for comments and approval by NLC at the NLC monthly
meetings.

2. Here is an invitation from Deborah Noble, Outreach Chair for the West
Eugene Collaborative:

Dear Eugene Neighborhood Leaders,

The West Eugene Collaborative (WEC) has been meeting for well over a year
to address transportation and land use issues in West Eugene.

Our group is comprised of about two dozen civic leaders including
government agency representatives, business leaders, environmental leaders
and active community members. We have generated over 300 ideas and are on
the cusp of making specific recommendations to public officials by the end
of this year.

Last month, the WEC offered a series of public outreach meetings during
which we received many comments from neighbors asking that we stay in touch
as our process moves forward to completion. We would much appreciate more
input from neighborhood leaders and representatives.

On Thursday evening, August 28, the Sloat Room in the Atrium building has
been reserved from 7:00 to 9:00. We are looking forward to listening to
your ideas and concerns regarding West Eugene transportation and land use
issues.

In addition, the Collaborative organizers would like to schedule a WEC
representative to attend your neighborhood group meeting in September.

Please let me know if you would like to attend the 8/28 meeting and /or
schedule a WEC representative at your next meeting.
