Please join us for a thought provoking presentation and slideshow on Eco
Logical Culture Change and Neighborhoods.
This presentation will be of interest to anyone with a care for the
environment, neighborhoods, human potential, peace on earth, community
building and looking after many more of our needs closer to home.
*************************************************
Wednesday, February 27, 7 PM, Harris Hall, 8th and Oak Downtown, in
the
Lane County Complex.
Global trends in climate change, economics, resources, international
relations and the environment are certain to increasingly affect the
way
we work and live in important and unpredictable ways. What can
individuals,
families and neighborhoods do to adapt for a very uncertain future?
Scattered all over Eugene, one can find wonderful examples of people
taking initiatives to live more eco logically- making changes in thier
own
lives and properties with that uncertain future in mind.
Grass is turning to garden, automobile space is being converted to good
use, people are looking closer to home to satisfy more of thier needs
and
building community at the same time. Home and the neighborhoods we live
in
provide an accessible and human scale place for eco culture change, a
growing number of visionaries are already at work,,,,
The Feb. 27 presentation by Jan Spencer will focus on neighborhood
strategies for eco logical culture change touching on human potential,
exisiting models, home economics, permaculture and Block Planning. We
will
take a critical look at global market capitalism, we will ask- what does
suburban conversion and home economics have to offer and how can Block
Planning bring so many positive community aspirations within reach?
Finally, we will discuss tangible actions people can make in thier own
lives, homes and neighborhoods, then, what vital roles can neighborhood
organizations and communities of faith play?
Please forward this invitation to friends and neighbors. Thanks!
