For over a year, a group of about two dozen community members including
elected officials, leaders of environmental, business and community
groups, along with government agency representatives, have gathered to
discuss and envision the future of transportation and land use in west
Eugene. This group is known as the West Eugene Collaborative (WEC). The
WEC has developed from a relatively grassroots base and is committed to
finding solutions that are acceptable to most in our community. We have
adopted the following as our purpose statement:
The purpose of the West Eugene Collaborative is to develop an integrated
and broadly supported land use and transportation solution that will
facilitate movement of people and commerce from/through/to west Eugene and
west of Eugene while enhancing community, business and the environment.
However, before we suggest solutions we want to report to the community
about our work together so far and to hear from you. The WEC will host
four open houses, two on July 8th and two on July 10th to listen to your
concerns, ideas, feedback and input. Community members are invited to
attend one of the following forums:
Veneta City Hall
