[NLC] followup from last evening: worksessions

Hello NLC,
I wanted to follow up on a suggestion that I made last night
at the NLC gathering.
There was a very strong thread in the various ideas that came
out
around the idea of interactive exchange between neighborhood
leaders.
To me, it also seemed clear that none of the proposed "ideal
agendas"
found a way to convincingly fit all of the "required" program
into 2 hours.
I want to reiterate my suggestion from last night.
SUGGESTION: Have every third (or even every other) NLC meeting be
a
worksession, with no predetermined agenda, and no moderation, no
mediation.
Just let leaders talk to each other about what they need help
with in their
own neighborhood, in an open roundtable (rectangular-table)
format.
For the other meetings, push the format/structure/agenda
towards our
"ideals" from last evening.
WHY? In a "formatted" meeting, the most time we are ever going to
be able to carve out for an "interactive" mode is 20 ... 30
minutes
(perhaps 40 minutes, tops). Even 40 minutes is just not
sufficient
to accomplish truly substantive open exchange of knowledge.
   Thoughts?
