Subject: See you soon at the Cascadia Conference on Dialogue & Deliberation
I'm so excited about seeing all of you on Saturday at NCDD Portland 2010: the Cascadia Conference on Dialogue & Deliberation -- and at Friday night's World Cafe!
Here's a final reminder about logistics and agenda. Most of you received this info on Tuesday (from Portland planning team co-leader DeAnna Martin), so this is especially important for people who just registered...
Maps & Directions
Concordia University’s website offers directions online at http://www.cu-portland.edu/aboutcu/maps.cfm . Our conference (and Friday night's World Cafe) will be held at the Hagen Conference Center. Follow this link to a pdf map of campus to find this building once on campus: http://www.cu-portland.edu/documents/campus_map.pdf
Parking
Parking is free and open to the public.
Food
We will have coffee and tea service, along with a few snacks, available when you arrive on Saturday. Lunch is included in your registration fee. We will be serving box lunches with a sandwich, cookie, piece of fruit, chips and a beverage. There will be a vegetarian option. We’ll serve coffee and tea again in the afternoon along with a few more snacks. If you have food allergies, gluten or dairy intolerance, or other special dietary needs, please plan to take care of what you need as we aren’t able to make accommodations along these lines.
Sharing Your Stuff
We will have ample table space for you to bring fliers, brochures, pamphlets, etc. to promote work you think we all should know about. We anticipate close to 200 attendees. We will also have a “working wall” where one activity will be to map the field of our work in this region. We’ll tell you more when we see you Saturday, but wanted to give you a heads up that your involvement in mapping who we are and what we are doing is invited and encouraged!
Agenda, plus Friday night
For a high-level overview of the day, you can download a pdf of the agenda online at: http://ncdd.org/files/NCDD2010_Portland_Agenda.pdf . We begin at 9am, but check-in and networking starts at 8am so we encourage you to arrive early!
We also encourage you to join local community members at a World Café event Friday night, 6:30-8:30 PM, at Concordia’s Hagen Conference Center. This will be a great kick-off to our time together. It is open to the community (and free, whether you're attending the conference the next day or not!). Our dialogue will help us get to know one another and will serve as a lead-in to Saturday’s event and activities. We encourage you to attend, and to bring your friends and colleagues with you!
Staying Connected Before & After the Event: “Like” our Facebook Page “Cascadia Dialogue & Deliberation Network”
We’ve created a Facebook page, called “Cascadia Dialogue & Deliberation Network,” where we can stay connected to one another, share our experience of the event, capture content, and continue the conversation beyond our time together. Visit it online at: http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Cascadia-Dialogue-and-Deliberation-Network/163521017004195
Other Questions?
Much of this information and more is available on the NCDD website at http://ncdd.org/events/portland.php . You can email DeAnna Martin (deanna at wisedemocracy.org) or Sandy Heierbacher (sandy at thataway.org) if you have any questions we haven't answered here.
Happy travels, and see you soon!
