Hi,
Here is a bit of info about the speaking tour I am working on.
The attached pdf explains the how and why. Also includes an outline of
the presentation.
The new posters I have made - all very neighborhood specific - are pdfs
on my website - www.suburbanpermaculture.org
Organizing the tour is in the very early stages. No dates have been set
but discussions have begun with a number of churches or synagogue in
several neighborhoods including Amazon, Friendly, River Road, Santa
Clara, Southeast and Harlow.
The tour is very much about creating neighborhood networks and
connections. Those are just as important as what we can do to our own
homes and properties.
Also vital is calling attention to existing tools to work with such as
Neighborhood Watch, Emergency Preparedness, Neighorhood Associations,
communities of faith, useful city programs such as Stream Team, Parks
Volunteers, Urban Agriculture along with other entities in the
neighborhood such as schools, scouts, various service organizations and
perhaps businesses.
So if you have contacts with [or you attend] communities of faith in
your neighborhood, please pass them on to me or pass this info on to
your faith community friend or contact so they can call me. Forwarding
the pdf is appreciated.
Just this morning, I spoke with a woman from a church that is interested
in a presentation and she invited me to participate in a regional
"Creation Care" conference coming up. People from Presbyterian churches
from all over western Oregon will attend. She also had great things to
say about what was happening in her church. Its great to know people
are being creative and progressive.
So there are a lot of great networks to create. Just connecting the
good work being done already would be a big boost all over town. Add
momentum and the sky is the limit.
Thanks,
Jan
