*** APOLOGIES FOR MULTIPLE POSTINGS ***

Dear WEC friends ... and City of Eugene and LTD friends,

Kitty (and others) actually had two ideas related to EmX.

The first was to involve the WEC, as we are doing. The ad hoc subcommittee will be meeting tomorrow to develop options for the full WEC to consider when we meet next on Tuesday, November 2 (Election Day). By next week I hope to share the options developed by the subcommittee.

The other idea was to organize a public forum to talk about the role of transit in our community. You should be getting an invitation to this forum in the next couple days, but I wanted to tell you the basic details so you can plan to attend:

    "Let's Talk Transit"
    Tuesday, November 9
     7:30 - 9:30 a.m.
    Hilton Eugene & Conference Center
Complementary light breakfast at 7:00 a.m.

RSVP by November 1 to reserve your seat: rsvp at ltd.org or 541-682-6106

While timed shortly after LTD is set to release their Alternatives Analysis Report for EmX in west Eugene, this event is intended to pull back to the 30,000 foot level to (re)consider the transit needs of our community and why they are important: to begin to (re)envision transit in our community.

Speakers will include:

John Inglish of the (Salt Lake City) Utah Transit Authority
Congressman Peter DeFazio (if available)
Eugene Mayor Kitty Piercy
Springfield City Councilor Christine Lundberg
LTD Board Member Greg Evans

The forum is being planned to be partly like a City Club of Eugene program (thanks Don!) and partly like an Envision Oregon forum. In other words, this is intended to be a community dialoguing involving many voices in our community, including those of the WEC.

I hope you will plan to participate.

Thanks,
Rob Z
