[WEC-Com] WEC Outreach Planning Meeting on Wed. 8/27, 1:00 PM Eugene Hotel A/B Conf. Rm.

Hi WEC Outreach Planning Committee Invitees,
 
We will be meeting next week on Wednesday, August 27, at 1:00 p.m. at  The 
Eugene Hotel's A/B Conference Room. 
 
The purpose of this meeting is to go over the Proposed Outreach Plan  (below) 
and to formulate a publicity
plan for the public outreach events in late September and in November. At  
present, there are limited funds
available for ads. 
 
The first proposed outreach event has been scheduled for Thursday, August  
28, at 7:00 p.m. at the Atrium Bldg. Sloat Room. I  emailed invitations to 
representatives of the 5 West Neighborhood  organizations last Friday and am 
following up with phone calls this week.  In a separate email I will forward that 
invitation to you.   
The Wed. 8/26 1:00 outreach planning meeting is  scheduled so that the WEC AC 
members can  remain at the same location for their 2:00 meeting.

Note  to WEC Members: 
I  was asked to email the below proposed WEC outreach plan which Emily  
drafted and handed out at our last full WEC meeting. I  have  filled in the plan 
with up to date information. The folks who  worked on planning and publicity for 
the outreach meetings in July  are: Emily, Tim, Jamie,  Larry,  Rob Z, Jan, 
Don and Mary. These  folks, as well as communication committee members, will  
receive an invitation (next week) to meet as a committee on Wednesday,  August 
27 at 1:00 p.m.  All WEC members are welcome to sign  up!

Proposed  Outreach Plan for the West Eugene Collaborative
August through  December 2008
 
Summary
This proposal  details three additional public outreach efforts between now 
and December of  this year.  The first is to West  Eugene neighborhoods, the 
second and third to the general public.  The main goal of the meeting will be to 
 engage residents and business owners in West Eugene and garner their ideas 
and  feed back.  The last meeting will be  devoted to the discussion of the WEC’
s collective recommendations and design  proposals.
 
Details:
August/September  2008 
 
Specific outreach  to West Eugene Neighborhoods:
 
 Thursday, August  28, 7-9 p.m.  Atrium Sloat Room
 
            Far West Neighbors
            Whitaker
            ABC
            Jefferson West Side Neighbors
            Churchill Area Neighbors
 
Format would be  similar if not identical to previous forums.
Feedback would be  incorporated and balanced against existing design storming 
ideas and resulting  synthesis of eight design cluster
 
 
We have  contacted West neighborhood leaders and offered WEC facilitation of  
transportation solution discussions at September neighborhood  meetings.

Four public  forums, two on Tuesday September 23 and two on Thursday 
September  25

            What we heard last time and how it’s been  incorporated

Incorporate  comments back into design proposals
 
November/December  2008
Final set  of four public forums – ideally before the Thanksgiving Holiday – 
or move  to January – present final recommendations and drawings.  Two on 
Tuesday, two on Thursday – Same  places.  Have an interested parties  sign up 
list available for publication distribution (may just be a web site  notification 
to save  resources?)
