[WEC-Com] [WEC-Coord] For Communications Committee - and Coordinating Committee call

I all ways find it interesting as to the positions/attitude of our
elected leaders. Collectively they pass more and more often
overlapping-conflicting regulations requiring longer and more complex
procedures yet are often impatient as the progress locals; cities,
counties and other agencies & bodies are making. (Yet look at lack of
progress with "Big Look". Also are their ideas any more important or
carry any more weight than any others. And as I recall didn't we early
on asked them to join us, but they were to busy? I have no problem with
hearing their ideas, but are they willing to listen to the WEC? This
message does continue to point up the fact we are late having "dropped
the ball" in terms of the WEC 'getting out here' to listen and have a
discussion with the greater west Eugene public.

Dear Kitty... and WEC Coordination and Communication Committees,

It occurs to me that John and Dennis will be in town on Tuesday, June
10, even though our meeting that day has been rescheduled for late June.
And some of the out-of-state speakers for the Lane County Moving Forward
Together conference the following day will be getting into town on
Tuesday also.

We have thought about opportunities to get more bang for the buck from
our speakers, and to organize some kind of informal discussion, perhaps
even focused on west Eugene.

I don't know if the stars would align, but what if we had some kind of
ad hoc meeting with Sen. Prozanski, Rep. Holvey, a few of us, and one or
two out of town experts?

Or am I overreaching and this doesn't make any sense?

In any case, I would welcome making an opportunity for both Sen.
Prozanski and Rep. Holvey to be involved in some manner in our next
regular WEC meeting. We are working in their districts, and I know both
are very concerned about transportation issues and the lack of progress.

Coordinating Committee call

Hello all,
Thanks for your work on this. I want to bring up another very, very
important communication. Senator Prozanski and Representative Holvey are
both very concerned about West 11th and on out to Veneta. They think
our work is too slow. They have ideas of their own. They think it has to
happen quickly. They would be willing to go to bat for the right idea/s.
If we do not invite them in ASAP, they may go without us. I suggest that
we may want to invite them to speak to the WEC about their concerns and
recommendations right now. I don't think a small group meeting will do
it. I think they need to see the breadth of the group and to know that
we want to hear from them. This is one of those important moments in
the evolution of the WEC. Kitty
