[WEC-LUT] Materials for Mon 10/1 4 pm LUT meeting

Dear WEC Land Use and Transportation Committee members (and other interested
members of the WEC),

A reminder that we are scheduled to meet next this coming Monday:

    Monday, October 1, 4:00 - 5:45 pm
    Les Lyle Room, Eugene Public Works, 858 Pearl, Eugene

EMILY: Please confirm that we do have the room reserved. Thanks!

(I¹d like to end no later than 5;45 pm, as I have started taking an Arabic
class at LCC every Monday evening at 6 pm. Arabic is much harder than
transportation.)

Recall the ideas for the agenda for our Monday meeting:
    * Begin reviewing the (draft) Purpose and Need statement for the EmX
Extension project, with an eye towards presenting recommendations or options
to the full WEC in mid-October.
    * Begin reviewing brainstorming work to date with an eye towards
developing values, vision, goals and/or issues for west Eugene.
    * Begin developing other recommendations, as appropriate, for the full
WEC meeting in mid-October.

I will me in Portland all day today (Thursday) in meetings, and will develop
a formal agenda by Friday.

For now, I have attached four documents for us to review:
1. West Eugene EmX Extension Newsletter ­ September 2007
2. Federal register Notice fo the EIS for the West Eugene EmX Extension
3. Draft Report from the City and LTD Studies Task Force
4. Brainstorming ideas from the January 9 ³WE² Group meeting (see pages
7-10)

We had a good discussion yesterday, with Rick, Charles, Larry, Emily, Sue,
Tom Schwetz and me participating, and Jim Welsh observing.


NEXT MEETING

Unless we hear of several conflicts, our next meeting is set for:

    Monday, October 1, 4-6 pm

AGENDA IDEAS

Ideas for our next agenda include:

HOMEWORK

Towards the end of the meeting, the following people agreed to do the
following things:

Emily: Check Rob Inerfeld¹s calendar to see if he can participate in the
October 1 meeting.

Tom Schwetz: Forward the Notice of Intent for the BRT EIS to the LUT
Committee.

Larry: Send Emily info about key goals from the Metro Plan, etc. relevant to
discussing a vision for west Eugene.

Emily/Rob Z: Gather together brainstorming ideas from the previous ³WE²
group in January, along with ideas from Larry (and Rick?) into some useful
starting point for talking about values, vision, goals and issues for west
Eugene.

Emily: Contact Terry Harding in Eugene Planning re the guy who has developed
a GIS typology system

Rick/Emily: Look at parcels in west Eugene and their redevelopment potential
(?).

Rob Z: Send a message to the Mapping Committee email list with a link to the
page Kevin assembled containing ideas for mapping.

Emily/Larry: Finalize the white paper from the former City/LTD Studies Task
Force and distribute.


CORRECTIONS/ADDITIONS

These are by no means complete notes, and are probably inaccurate in some
ways. Please share any corrections or additions.
