GTA III screen failure and loading problem

WE NEED HELP in playing GTA III or we better say getting started. We don' know why, but all the texts disappear, and instead of them we see yellow lines (boxes). Trying to drive, we don't see the map correctly. This could mean a video card driver problem, because the same problem appeared on two machines, and both had the newest driver. So it's not the play's fault.
The other problem is on another machine, which runs the texts correctly, but we have to start the game from the beginning each time, because while trying to load a saved game, an error (maybe an exepaction) occures.
Please if someone knows about the solutions, write an e-mail!!
