I am thinking about purchasing a chandelier that measures 42" h x 35"w for a dining room that measures 12X13. I have a nine foot ceiling. My current light fixture is 26H x 20L. I am concerned that the new fixture my be too big for the room. Is there a rule of thumb for appropriate size and is there a rule of thumb for length of chain. I will only be able to have about a foot of chain.
