I believe that they are rendering errors that you are seeing. We aren't real thrilled with the brick texture on the building on the right. We will probably revise that in later models.

The structure actually connects via columsn and beams similar to the right side that stand free of the left building. We just didn't render them yet. One of those magic features of computer modeling. You really have to keep in mind if it stands in a model, it doesn't mean it will stand in real life.
