Manufactured homes are construccions which are made in some sort of factory, and then reassembled on site. They have many different styles, according to the client needs. They vary in the amount of pre-assembly made in the factory, ranging from log homes, pre cut, assembled on site; to "box" homes, big (about the size of a container), box like modules, that need heavy machinery for the final assembly. The main advantage of these systems over traditional ones is cost, specially in countries where man labour is expensive, the us for example; and final product quality, since there is more control over product quality in a controlled enviroment such as a factory.
Manufactured homes are not necesarily modular.
Modular homes need to be easily assembled and even dissasembled by non-trained individuals, in order to adapt to different needs. It main parts are factory manufactured, but the end product is not. One of the principal exponets of these kind of constructions is Kristian Gullichsen, look him out.

Good luck

Santiago
