Yes, I am familiar with this technique (2D trees) and have used it before. I also know that some modelers use transparent globes with texture maps which I think is effective for longer unimportant distances.It also shows intent. But for closer shots a more realistic idea is required. I did try to make some trees in the tree machine but unless there were hundreds of leaves, it looked rather scarce and didn't come off well. As for multiple trees that looked good.... memory, memory,memory..... I will be trying different methods soon for this and will post again when something starts to sing.
