Your work with Desktop Radiance looks very promising.
I am not very familiar with Desktop Radiance, but the DesignWorkshop materials *should* work with it if they are properly installed.
To diagnose the problems you are encountering we need a little more information. What speific materials are you trying to us ethat are not working? What is the exact text of any error messages you receive when you try to use textures?
