Gary -
I used Photoshop to change the windows of the model, I added a little bit of a shadow to the roof on the left, and I changed the limestone entryway to make it look more angled. I also made the bricks over the arched windows - the rest of the bricks ( body, sills, rowlock) are textures I made for dw, but I couldn't figure out how to make a texture that would "skew" the right way for the arched parts ... and of course the landscape and background.
The rest of the rendering was dw - I tried a lot of different times of day, rotations of the model and sun and shade settings to finally get shading that I liked (10:00am, June, with the house facing east). I was happy with the "soft" look produced when rendered at these settings, but I spent a lot of time modeling the detailed trim and it seemd to be lost in the shadows - something else I hope to get better results with using a different renderer.
One thing is for sure - I didn't save any time doing models opposed to watercolors, but using dw has been a real learning experience and made a job that had become tedious enjoyable again.
Andrea
