Message - Dimension Text - White fill obscures arrowheads

A small but annoying issue:

When you set the fill color for dimension text on short dimensions it often covers the tail ends of the arrowheads.

I would guess this could involve a lot of tweaking with the dimension tool so that it creates a bigger group of objects with the arrowhead ends in front, the text in the middle, and the bulk of the line in back (so that the text could break the line when centered) OR it would help a lot if the bounding box around text were tighter and more closely tied to the actual text... Maybe the simplest thing would be a "line in front" toggle in the dimension palette... You guys tell me.
