Gary,
I agree 100% with everything you said. The give and take and the free exchange of ideas in the forum is just one of the plus sides of using Pcadd.
There are many posts selling ripoff software copies, "unbelievable deals", ad nauseum. Some are removed due to the discretion of the webmaster....great.
I've noted everyone in this forum smells a bad apple when it comes around and we simply leave it alone and it goes away.Caddpower has offered some significant help to me in the past...and yet, I have recieved at least two e-mails reminding me I was stepping over an invisible (To me, anyway), boundry...and therefore should cease and desist. (sp) The ob and/or yb mystery thing has always confused me too. The e-mails I recieved were an immediate turn off. If Huc has anything to do with that, it seems outta context. Huc is as you say....I admire his drive and skills and attitude;-)
One of the beauty's of Powercadd is....If, when stuck, you goof around long enough the solution always comes thru! The Powercadd forum has always been the push start I need to get over the next hump. Also, it is a great place to spend the evening reading. If suddenly, the forum was a pay per view...it would certainly sour my taste for lurking.
I've gone to Caddpower's site. There is some terriffic stuff there no doubt. However, value is not there...for me. It is easy to purchase QT6, or Acrobat 5.0 or Jaguar because the value exceeds the cash outlay.
Bo said.....(paraphrasing) "His words were free and anybody could do whatever they liked with his posts."
I cannot honestly see how anyone can come to any other conclusion...unless they own the website. While working on a cable job off Nantucket, we had a heck of a time with a tug captain and his ability to move our 30,000lb anchors. We called him in for a conferance and made detailed drawings of the big picture and what was expected of him.
3 weeks later, our drawings had become part of his copywrite!
Yes, he copywrited the act of anchoring a cable barge while on a cable project.
He even wanted to sell the idea back to us!
Good thing it was at the end of the job...the laughter was drowned out by the roar of his engines as he headed for port :-)Chuck
