I use and teach the PowerCADD 6 + SketchUp 3 combo.
My models and drawings are probably not as complex as some.
But in principal, simply using the DWG translator works just fine.I have found the DWG translation in SketchUp to be really quite top notch.
And it is included for the base cost of the software.
I wish I could say the same for PowerCADD.If a PowerCADD specific plugin were to be developed, I guess the most useful thing for it to do would be to create some sort of "hot-link" relationship between section cuts in SketchUp, and the corresponding 2D information in PowerCADD, so that the information is constantly updated.
This would be interesting, but would probably require a plugin on the PowerCADD side as well. For now, I am happy with the fact that they communicate well at all. They are two best of breed applications, concentrating on their own specific areas, and exchanging data cleanly. And I have found that is actually a very tall order these days.
So kudos to both companies for creating good, solid, clean code.
