I use both applications for what they were well designed to do. PowerCadd for 2D, Sketchup for intuititive 3D design.
The most current DWG translator in PowerCadd does a great job of exporting files for importing into SketchUp. For me that's usually just plans from PowerCadd.
SketchUp is not a solids modeler, but there's not much creative users are not able produce with it. Take a look at the Gallery, as well as the Material / Componnents area of SketchUp's Forum.Andy
