I use Archicad for Design Development and keep the model simple. I bring model views and sections into powercadd for preparation of presentation drawings and construction documents.
I will sometimes create a single line plan in Powercadd and paste into Archicad to trace (or magic wand) my model from. I export the clean Archicad model plans/sections to consultants as dwg with no problems. for exchange between Archicad and Powercadd I use dwg for plans, copy and paste for detail outlines, pict for 3d model views.
I like having both Archicad and Powercadd to translate incoming dwg files since sometimes one works better than the other. Exchanging information between the two via dwg works great but I try to copy/paste first.
Sketchup looks great but the thought of learning another program makes me sick.
I have purchased OSX of Archicad/Powercadd and am waiting for Bo to say its time to buy a new G5.
