The original one is 2048x1536... But when open, it's about 9 megas, while the 800x600 is about 1,38 megs...
Some people "out there" don't have a cable or high velocity modem... And anyhow the screen definition of 72 dpi doesn't allow for too much details... Unless cropping separates files for pointing a detail....
