I was stationed at Gibbs Kaserne in V Corps Long Range Recon Patrol Company. I became the Soviet Order of Battle Instructor in late 1965 and used to spend a fair bit of time studying soviet weapons in V Corps G-2 under Lt Col Oyama, a very bright guy.

We LRRPs were a bit of a handful for most of the Army guys. I remember one day I was carrying my skateboard and decided those nice smooth floors would be fast so I hopped on and an MP started chasing me I went around the corner straight into the constantly moving elevator, the board hit the back wall. We went up. He got in the one behind and I hopped out and hit the red button when he was between floors.

That was a great building.

As I understand it, IG Farben included Hoechst Farbwerk and Bayer during the war and was convicted of using slave labor and making Zyklon B gas to gas the Jews in the camps. So they forfeited the building.

The IG Farben Hochhaus (SP?) was an amazing place.
