It's a little like the "stuffing the pipe befor lighting it " trick... Your mind has some few pico seconds awarded time when you see the stricken look of your interlocutor...:-)

Anyhow, as an architect I'm not working after the first decimal and when applying some good old inertia formulas and/or flexion, you realise with this tool which is - the - major variable for your own point of view...
Of course I do have a Palm too...:-)

Still, the sheer knowledge that on that "stick" lays centuries of science... Without batteries... Or even at a lighter's flame in a grotto...Perhaps underwater... It's like a "staff of power" ( Logs and trigonometrics - all in one - like some old oil brand this ruler is double-faced)...

Well, along with good wine, one's need to feel concretely numbers from time to time...:-)
