I'm a pilot in the Cincinnati area. I know exactly what you saw. To the Northwest of Cincinnati (West of Evendale), there is a spectacular radio tower that dominates the skyline. It has a very unique 3-D design which resembles a futuristic Eiffel tower. I've never read anything about it, but it is well documented in my own personal photographs. It is also well noted in my brain, because it is the type of structure that any pilot wants to avoid when cruising around on a murky day. I've memorized its location just like I've memorized the towers in the UC area. I can't give you much detail relating to its function, but I can reassure you that you were not hallucinating.
