I was stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army Fifth Corps Support Command from May 1970 to December 1972. I was the editor of The COSCOM News, a weekly paper distribued to our units all over Germany. My office was in the I.G. Farben building, in the annex. I remember walking those long halls, riding the old wooden, revolving elevator with no doors, that we used to call the paternoster, the book store near the entrance, the snack bar, where I had many enjoyable conversations ... Lots of memories of that beautiful building, and some not so good. I remember when the officers club was bombed by the Baader-Meinhof terrorist gang, and a lieutanant colonel killed. Someday I hope to get back to Frankfurt for a visit.
