Worked in the IG Farben Bldg (ASA) before declaration of end of WWII around '47-'49. and remember the lifts that were really verticle conveyor belts with platforms attached, loop fashion.
One entry next to the other, one up and one down. Essentially built by the Bauhaus movement that figured everything to be functional, "Less is More". However one had to get used to these things, how to get on or off just at the right time, since it never stopped and was pretty well balanced if up and down loads were about the same. Palmengarten was not far away. Built long before Hitler by a cultural group. Had a huge park and a real
Palm Garden inside. Gorgeous for GI's to use as a club, with American women in charge. Music and Beer, of course. Forget
the name of the Kassern. Was out beyond the 97th Gen Hospital. maybe someone remembers those years.
