I was with the 50th MP Detachment, 1971-72. We ran the stockade at the rear of the kaserne. The bars on many ground floor windows had dings and gouges which we were told were hits from shell fragments and bullets. Supposedly, during WW2, these were SS barracks, and rumor had it, that, sealed in the basements were old tunnels running to the Hauptbahnhof. I've seen pictures of German troops during the First World War doing PT in the yard. The place must have had some history.
