You are quite right, art truely is rather seen as a social game, today -------- last great happening here in Dk. was a number of blenders with living Goldfish swimming around , and then the press couldn't restand the oppotunity to turn the switches ; guess I rather not make art.
Also I think art ask focus, will ,wish or an idear. Anyway if this shuld truely be art.
But with Art it still is so, that it is somthing unique that you instantly will reconise as Art, somthing very poverfull and somthing that leave no doubt, that "this" is Art , you simply know right away.

Still as a view of a 3D object that you must decide if is art or not, I show an angle to it.
