I really admire the work of I M Pei.....

he's got a distinctly modernistic approach... clean, sharp lines.....
with an affinity for simple geometric shapes with which he molds his designs like a piece of sculpture...
inter-locking, simple forms, as in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which he has developed as his trademarks.... just like the glass pyramid... :-)

another aspect of his design that I admire is his ability to create extremely lively public spaces.....
just check out the lobby of the National Gallery of Art, East Building, Washington, D. C.... which has a skylighted atrium with bridges connecting gallery areas and a slowly moving Calder mobile....

then, his use of glass in his works.... in his own words, 'His work has always incorporated light and view'....
incidentally.... his name Ieoh Ming Pei, itself, means 'to inscribe brightly'..... just one of the interesting bits of info about him that I picked up from the net....

Pei was influenced heavily by Le Corb... and it shows in his work....
here's an interesting quote, attributed to Le Corb which I would like to share with you guys.....
He said, "I gabble elementary geometry; I am possessed with the color white, the cube, the sphere, the cylinder and the pyramid. Prisms rise and balance each other, setting up rhythms in midday sun the cubes open out into surface, at nightfall a rainbow seems to rise from forms in the morning they are real, casting light and shadow and sharply outlined as a drawing. We should no longer be artist, but rather penetrate the age, fuse it until we are indistinguishable. We too are distinguished, great and worthy of past ages. We shall even do better still, that is my belief"
I absolutely like Corb's Ronchamp.... even though it largely denounced the idealism of his youth.....

I also like Kahn's work..... but I guess I am veering off in the wrong direction now.... :-)...

I agree with Nadia.... not only the teachers in the studios... but to a certain extent, the senior students also...
I remember, when I was a fresher.... how I was in awe of Asymptote... based totally on one of my senior's fascination for them.... :-)....
