well I think it's not color that has influenced Islamic architecture,
but different Islamic thoughts in different eras has chosen different colors to be
used.
here, we categorize Islamic architecture by the Islamic governments they
coincided.and ofcourse colors are very helpful in deciding which building belongs to which
era.
for example there is a very light and beautiful yellow which is only used in
a special time "safavie"and etc.
and as Paul has mentioned ,in some branches of Islamic philosophy ,
,depicting natural figures is prohibited .
not only colors!
I'm not an expert also ,but
so far I know in that idealogy,imitating any live creature is a sin,
(drawing them,or specially sculpture)
they say if you didn't have the power to give it life,why did you
make it?
you have Islamic architecture in India too,right?
like tajmahal,right?
I can say here ,light blue color is used more than othere colors
in mosques.(for the domes)
