It spells freely by phonetics (old and new spelling) in French...:-)
Wonderful place, and architecture... One must stroll through the city reading the Rubbayat of Omar Kayyam....:-) (He too was too much fond of wine.. got him in trouble..exile)

Next door is the Ulughbeg observatory.... great mathematician and astronomer... The first scientific one maybe.

Below a link with the pic of the Medersa of Registan... There is even a human face... (I'm getting old... I went there... and forgot about the human face...tss-tss!)
