Architecture ranges from the technical, engineering aspect to the artistic, formal aspect. Different people to gravitate to different roles. Many people are needed to make a complicated building work technically, not merely working out details to make it weather tight and structurally stable, but to provide heating and cooling, plumbing and waste disposal, and now even electronic networks.

Other people are more concerned with appearances, and some specialize in interior design, selecting colors, finish materials, furnishings. Still others gravitate to large landscape and urban design, concerned with experior spaces.

Some students move from architecture in construction, since they have learned how buildings are built. One of my students has become a multi-millionaire developer of commercial properties, particularly huge shopping malls.
