That's the problem: if they're not well known, you won't find much published about them. Less assertive firms don't even have web sites, let alone books written about their work. Koetter Kim of Boston, for example, does consistently fine work, but it's not easy to find it published. Another architect who does high quality design (largely of houses and smaller projects) is Anthony Ames of Atlanta. He doesn't have a web site either, but I've linked one example of his work. It's not a photo, so may not do it justice, but the drawing and text give a sense of his approach. Ames is an orthodox modernist in the school of Meier (which I am not) so I don't point to his work as a matter of stylistic preference--merely as an instance of a high standard of design quality.
