Have you discovered/looked for the term "Athenaeum"? This is associated in the U.S. with architecture library/club/museums, mostly local affairs, but potentially great resources.

Below are linked the presentation drawings for a couple of Portland Athenaeum projects from a first year graduate student ("M. Arch. as first professional degree") studio I taught a few years ago.

I suppose I could dig up the program statement, etc.for these projects if you think they might be useful to you.
