Thanks for your comments. What I've been noticing is that the cabins by the lake are becoming more and more like the homes that people leave behind for the weekend. I don't believe these people are truly experiencing cabin life - they have satellite TV, jacuzzi baths, etc., and I don't think they're connecting with nture in the way that living in a cabin is meant to. I'm proposing rustic style cabins in my project that will also explore sustainable design by incorporating daylighting techniques, natural ventilation, recycling existing materials on the site and/or using local materials, and rain water collection. I think this will allow people to have that real cabin experience that has been lost within the last 50 years or so.
