First: some people are more sensitive to their physical environments than others. Those with an eye for space and composition might begin to consider architecture.
Second: some people have a desire to create things; to build. Some have been exposed to this activity, and are predisposed to it.
Third: some people believe that our environment has much to do with our quality of life, and wish to somehow improve this quality of life for their communities.
Fourth: some are simply taken in by perception that this is a noble enterprise. To some its the perception of glamour.

If one or more of these ideas has ever appealed to you, then chances are you've given the profession some consideration.
