I think I would visit the site and I know that my classmates certainly would as most students I know seem to be more comfortable with the internet and their computers rather than lugging around large texts, especially if it were illustrating things like structures or eviromental control sytems, etc., (i.e. thing architecture students traditionally have a hard time grasping)
As long as such site/Cd-Rom wasn't just a rehash of the books or the cd included with a few of them.
Some sort of search should be inplace in either item to ensure a student could find what they were looking for quickly.
What really would be interesting would be a something akin to a digital "Graphic Standards"
