Wow, I'm simply amazed at the comments that I've been reading. I'm new to this forum so excuse me if I don't know the whole story behind all of you responses. I don't understand why you would discurrage anyone from being an architect. The only advice to anyone entering architecture school is that you at least spend on summer interning somewhere (even for no pay) to see what life is really like outside of school. This should give you enough exposure to the business to let you make up your own mind about your future. I own a small architecture firm and do projects ranging from homes to small commercial developements and love what I do. I did take me a long time to come to this point, but always had in mind that no matter what task I was asked to do, I was contributing to a larger scale. No matter what people tell you, there are no more days of unlimited funds and no clients that will let desing whatever you want, but you can design a project on budget and with clients interest in mind and still add a little touch or your own ideas. Don't give up, because if we do start discouraging young minds than we will fall to the waste side of computer designs and cookie cutter architecture.
